Countersinking
Countersinking creates a conical seat so a flat head fastener can sit flush with or below the part surface.
Standard countersink angles
| Angle | Typical Application |
|---|---|
| 82° | Common for inch flat head screws. |
| 90° | Common for metric and general purpose applications. |
| 100° | Common for aerospace and specialty applications. |
For best results, specify
- Countersink angle.
- Through hole size.
- Major diameter or flush requirement when critical.
- Quantity and countersink side.
- Fastener or hardware type when fit is important.
- In a DXF, show only the through hole circle. Do not add a second circle for the countersink diameter.
- Thin material and large countersinks may increase the effective through hole opening.
- Uncommon angles or special fit requirements are reviewed case by case.
- Only countersinks explicitly listed in the quote are included.
