File Guidelines

STEP is the preferred file type because it preserves the part's three dimensional geometry and scale. DXF files are accepted for flat parts but must be clean and exported at full scale.

STEP files

• Preferred for formed parts and parts with three dimensional geometry.
• Native model scale is preserved. ACP does not need to resize the file.
• Attach a PDF when critical dimensions, special tolerances, or additional operations must be communicated.

DXF files

• Export at 1:1 scale.
• Include only the finished cut geometry.
• Remove dimensions, title blocks, notes, center marks, construction geometry, duplicate lines, and overlapping lines.
• Do not send a nested sheet. Upload each unique part as its own file.
• For a countersink, show only the through hole circle in the DXF. Do not add the larger countersink diameter circle.

Supporting information

A PDF and quote notes may be attached to explain tapping, countersinks, hardware, marking, finishing, bag and tag, or other requirements. Because Instant Quote is automated, attachments and notes do not automatically add an operation. Confirm that every required operation is selected and listed in the quote.
