Laser Cutting

Fiber laser cutting is ACP's primary high speed process for flat metal parts. It is well suited to prototypes, repeat production, brackets, panels, covers, and other precision sheet and plate components.

Fiber laser, metals

SpecificationValue
Maximum standard part size58" × 118"
Minimum standard part size1" × 1"
Standard Instant Quote thicknessUp to 1.000", subject to material and platform availability
Common materialsAluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel, galvanized steel
Standard toleranceProfile ±0.010" and holes ±0.005" for parts up to 24" × 24"

What to expect

  • Laser cutting uses heat and may create a narrow heat affected zone along the cut edge.
  • Heat input, edge appearance, and achievable feature size vary by material, thickness, geometry, and assist gas.
  • Parts are delivered deburred with no sharp edges unless otherwise stated.

CO2 laser, acrylic and selected plastics

ACP uses a Kern CO2 laser for acrylic and selected plastics. CO2 laser cutting can produce clean profiles and polished looking acrylic edges, depending on material, thickness, and geometry.

  • Acrylic is the standard stocked plastic for the Instant Quote platform.
  • Other plastics may require a manual quote based on material compatibility and thickness.
  • Plastic materials react differently to heat. Edge appearance, discoloration, melting, or residue vary by material.
  • Materials that are unsafe or unsuitable for laser cutting will be routed to waterjet or another process.
